Hobbies: Fishing, usually in Karachi; playing football with my nephew.
Favourite Movie(s): The Terminal, with Tom Hanks; Dil Chata Hai, with Amir Khan.
Favourite Movie Star(s): Amir Khan, Abbas Khan, Ajab Gul and Tom Hanks.
Favourite Music Act(s): Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan – he’s even like a God in China, where they cannot understand what he is singing but his music is so beautiful; also Lata Mangeshka.
Favourite Food: White rice and yellow dahl or Pasta with mushroom sauce.
Favourite Drink: Fresh juices.
Favourite Holiday Destination: Caribbean, especially Antigua and Barbados. During our (2005) tour there, me and Danish (Kaneria) used to love swimming in the sea. We would put on a life jacket and just float out into the deep for what seemed like miles.
Favourite Ground: Lords, for its traditions and the way the members dress in their smart suits; Quaid-e-Azam Park in Karachi, which is a very beautiful ground and looks like it is in New Zealand. I learnt my cricket there as a youngster.
Least Favourite Ground: Anywhere I didn’t play well, so maybe Mohali. It is a very nice ground but I have bad personal memories there.
Most Memorable Match: The Second Test against India in Calcutta (in March 2005). Although I scored 267 in the next match, there was more pressure on me the match before in Calcutta. I scored 147 but was out for just nine and one in the first Test (in Mohali), dropped two catches and didn’t start my vice-captaincy career very well. People were talking about dropping me. I was proud to come back strong in Calcutta.
Match You Most Want to Forget: Definitely that (drawn) match in Mohali. The only good ball for me in the whole Test was the last one in the match when I had Virender Sehwag stumped!
Your Cricket Heroes: Imran Khan and my late brother Sharif Khan, who was a good all-rounder and he captained at club level. He always led from the front and I learnt that from him.
Greatest Influence: My six brothers - I’m the youngest of seven boys.
Favourite Non-Cricketing Sportsman: Arsenal footballer Thierry Henry. He signed my replica Arsenal shirt for me while I was in England with Notts.
Toughest Opponent: Glenn McGrath because he can work out any batsman. He sees one ball ahead of the game all the time; he’s so accurate and is still great in his mid-thirties.
Best Friend in Cricket: Azhar Mahmood or Rashid Latif, while Danish Kaneria is like a younger brother to me.
Funniest Man in Cricket: Graeme Swann at Notts. He’s very funny and is always mimicking a commentator or a team-mate.
Funniest Man in the World: Mr Bean or Johnny Lever.
Most Embarrassing Moment: Nothing particular, though I’ve had some bad times. I try to take every negative as a positive and learn from it.
If You Weren’t a Cricketer…: I’d be a footballer and hopefully a good one who scores lots of goals like Thierry Henry.
